My First Show!

So today was my very first craft show :-) Cindy and I did the Thomas Jefferson Holiday Craft Show today...It was really a lot of fun! We met a lot of very interesting people and many different jewelry vendors. Plus we got to just chat and catch up a little. And I actually sold a couple of pieces! It was really funny because I almost didn't put on a couple of the bracelets that sold because I didn't think that the wire work was good enough :-)

Speaking of wire work, Cindy had some truely beautiful pieces! Her wire work was just amazing! Take a second and surf on over to her site at:

You won't be disappointed!

Live Life with Kindness

“ In life you can never be too kind or too fair; everyone you meet is carrying a heavy load. When you go through your day expressing kindness and courtesy to all you meet, you leave behind a feeling of warmth and good cheer, and you help alleviate the burdens everyone is struggling with. ”

Daily Good

This is from another website that I get regular emails from:

To know how to grow old is the master-work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living. --Henri Amiel

Secrets of the Very Very Old:
Any centenarian in the US today has lived to see eighteen presidents serve the United States through two World Wars, the civil rights and womens' liberation movements and the rise and eventual fall of Communism. If s/he worked on a farm, s/he saw the progression from horses to tractors, and a Model T tooted its way down the street. S/he is older than the Empire State Building, bubble gum and Mickey Mouse. In the 2000 census, over 50,000 Americans reported being a centenarian, 100-years-old or more. And this part of the population is the fastest growing in the United States. The New England Centenarian Study took a look at these very senior citizens to see what they had in common. [more]

While I was busy last week in Lincoln, Nebraska hanging out with my NIRSA
buddies at their Big 12/Region V & Friends Conference, members of The Ripples
Project were busy responding to the "Nothing But Nets" challenge. I am so proud
to share that we raised over 80% of our financial goal of $5,000 (which I will
match) from over 250 members of The Ripples Project! It was exciting and
humbling to see dozens and eventually hundreds of you taking 5 minutes from your
crazy day to give 5 bucks (in in many cases much more!). I didn't expect so
many to react so quickly, and I certainly didn't expect so many "THANKS"! Here
are just three of the dozens of emails I received:

Karen from Cincinnati wrote that it "felt wonderful to be able to help out."
Lisa from Chicago said "Thank you for this opportunity to help others! It made
my day."
Christopher from Detroit shared, "Thanks for inspiring me this morning!"

I'm sharing this partly to send a huge THANK YOU to all of you who helped out,
and partly to remind others how GOOD it feels to spend 5 minutes giving 5 bucks!
I know you're busy, and I know money may be tight. If you have already maxed
out charitable giving or are not interested in this cause, no worries of course.
It is still my hope that we can have 1,000 members donate by 10/31, so visit
this page if you want to help:
http://PaulWesselmann.com/resources/NBN

And whether you are participating in this challenge or not, I hope that you do
something fantastic this week to celebrate your GOODNESS and GRACE!

Peace,
Paul

Foundation for a Better Life

Since I haven't really been using this blog for jewelry lately (hopefully that will be changing soon) I thought that maybe I should share some of the quotes and inspirational messages I've found. I'm always searching for new sites for our "Featured Story" on the Try Change website and one of the ones I found recently that I'm sure Vince will be blogging about soon is The Foundation for A Better Life. I've signed up for their newsletter so I'll be trying to share some of the quotes here at CK Designs. Here's the first one:

“ Promises are the uniquely human way of ordering the future,
making it predictable and reliable to the extent that this is humanly possible. ”
- Hannah Arendt (1906-1975)political philosopher, writer, educator

Disc Fun!

Ok Kerry :) This one is for you! These are from a little while ago when we all seemed to be playing with discs. I had a lot of frustration with these. The discs seemed so much easier when you were here showing us :) I've kind of given up for now and I've been working on trying some different shapes...I've done a couple of squashed beads and some barrels. I'll try to get some decent pictures and post them. I haven't had much time to play lately so I don't really have that much to show but hopefully Cindy and me will be getting together sometime in the next few weeks for a bead making day and we'll have a ton to show off :)

Happy Sunday!

My First Bracelet with my own beads!

I made this back in November but the picture didn't turn out so hopefully this will look better. I've also added a weight loss ticker that I found through Kerry at www.kabsconcepts.com . Thanks Kerry!

Kerry's coming down to give Cindy ( www.sweetbeadstudio.com ) and me a private lampworking class so hopefully very soon I will have more beads worthy of pictures :)
